Dr. Chelton L. Hunter, a 1990 graduate of Middletown Area High School, began his career in the Middletown Area School District in 1996 as a Social Studies teacher at Feaser Middle School. In 2002 he transitioned to the role of Fink Elementary School Principal where he served for nine years before being transferred to Kunkel Elementary School in 2011 where he served as principal for five additional years. In 2016, Dr. Hunter became the Assistant to the Superintendent and just five years later moved into the position of Superintendent of Schools at the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

When Dr. Hunter is not wearing his educator’s hat and leading the School District, he enjoys watching and participating in athletic events and contests. Dr. Hunter uses the golf course to have some fun along with competing in many of the local better ball golf tournaments throughout central Pennsylvania. Another interesting fact about Dr. Hunter that perhaps many do not know is that he has coached girls field hockey for over 25 years running two very competitive clubs over those years. He even has coached at the highest level, coaching the U19 Team USA indoor national team. Dr. Hunter is married and has two children.
