SCHOOL BOARD VACANCY
At the School Board meeting on April 26, 2022, the School Board accepted the resignation of School Board member Christopher Lupp effective immediately. The School Board intends to fill the vacant seat at the previously scheduled May 19, 2022 School Board meeting. The School Board wishes to announce that interested eligible District residents are asked to submit a letter of interest and resume to Mr. David A. Franklin, School Board Secretary, via email to
[email protected] no later than midnight on May 11, 2022 if they would like to be considered to fill the School Board vacancy. In accordance with the Public School Code, District residents are eligible to serve on the School Board if they have “good moral character”, are at least eighteen (18) years of age, and have resided in the District for at least one year. District employees, federal employees, federally-funded employees, and other elected officials may not serve as a School Board director.
The School Board members will be provided with the resumes and letters of interest of applicants in advance of the May 19, 2022 School Board meeting. Based upon the applications that are received, School Board members will be afforded an opportunity to nominate an applicant. More than one applicant may be nominated. A roll call vote will occur to select a replacement School Board member from the applicant(s) that are nominated. In accordance with the Sunshine Law, the School Board will not meet as a group in advance of the May 19, 2022 to deliberate on the applicants. The applicant selected to replace Mr. Lupp will take the Oath of Office and be seated at the May 19, 2022 School Board meeting, if available, or the June 1, 2022 School Board meeting. The individual that is appointed to fill the School Board vacancy would serve from May 19, 2022 until Mr. Lupp’s term expires in November 2023.
