Congratulations to Mrs. Jennifer Friedrichs, a sixth-grade math teacher at Middletown Area Middle School (MAMS), for being named Middletown Area School District’s 2025 Teacher of the Year! This award is part of a program in collaboration with Shippensburg University.
Mrs. Friedrichs was nominated and selected for this honor by her peers. She has recently begun her 27th year of teaching at Middletown. Early in her career, she served as a student teacher at Kunkel Elementary and worked as a substitute teacher in the district before taking on the role of sixth-grade math teacher.
Dedicated to helping all her students reach their individual potential in math, Mrs. Friedrichs encourages them to think critically and extend their understanding of the subject. Throughout her career, she has also been a member of the school’s leadership team and contributed to the development of the sixth-grade math curriculum. Outside of the classroom, she has co-advised the MAMS color guard for two decades.
Mrs. Friedrichs was recognized during the MASD staff opening day event and will be further honored at an upcoming school board meeting and luncheon at Shippensburg University.
| Honoring the 2025 MASD Teacher of the Year are Dr. Chelton Hunter, superintendent of schools, Dr. Alexis Wertz, assistant to the superintendent, and Dr. Shannon Wevodau, principal of Middletown Area Middle School. |
For nearly three decades Mrs. Friedrichs has been helping middle school students reach their individual potential in math.
