Stark family

Reid Elementary School hosted a military father’s surprise reunion with his kindergartner in Mrs. Stephanie Molnar’s class this morning. Staff Sergeant Trevor Stark has been serving in Korea for the past year and has not seen his family during his deployment. With the help of Reid staff and Stark's wife, Jaclyn, Stark was able to surprise his daughter, Payson, by being part of a mock lesson on community helpers. Mrs. Molnar created a guessing game about community helpers and introduced three service personnel who volunteered to be in on the surprise: Lower Swatara Police Officer, Jon Miller; Lower Swatara Firefighter, Josh Burrows; and Hershey Medical doctor and District doctor, Dr. Jayson Loeffert. The final community helper to enter the classroom was Stark.

When Stark walked in and mentioned he was in the Air Force, a student sitting across from Payson pointed at her and said, "Her dad is in the Air Force." But that didn't ruin the surprise. Payson had already recognized her daddy and whispered, "Hi, daddy," before leaving her seat to go be reunited with him.

The Stark family will be leaving MASD and heading to Germany in January. This time, together, as a family.

All four of our local TV stations (ABC27, CBS21, FOX43 and WGAL8) were present to capture the heartwarming story so be sure to watch your favorite news channel for the whole story. Links to their broadcasts will be added to this post as they are completed.

Penn Live did an excellent job of capturing the surprise reunion HERE.
