Fink Elementary’s Parents, Poetry and Pancakes event was a special time for our young learners to showcase their literacy skills to families, teachers, and classmates.
Students at all grade levels wrote poems titled “I Am Fink Elementary,” expressing thoughts, emotions, and ideas, all while strengthening phonemic awareness, fluency, and vocabulary skills.
Students read their poems to family members and classmates, and many, including second grader Jy'Cieon Simpson, read to a larger audience. First though, Jy'Cieon practiced his poem with District Superintendent Dr. Chelton Hunter (pictured above).
Below, kindergartners and sisters Naia and Nala Abreu recited their poems to a family member. Students also had the opportunity to share poems to a larger audience.
