Elementary Furniture and Equipment

Availability of Elementary Furniture and Equipment
Posted on 06/02/2026
As part of the upcoming Reid Elementary School renovation project and ongoing facility updates across the District, a number of furniture and equipment items will no longer be needed. The District explored the possibility of selling these items through a public auction. After consultation with a professional auction company, it was determined that the items do not have sufficient market value to justify the costs associated with conducting an auction.

Available items may include student desks, student chairs, teacher desks, and office furniture. Quantities and conditions will vary.

Rather than sending these items directly to scrap or recycling, the District is providing opportunities for the items to continue being used within our community.

Consistent with the School Board's action, disposal of the items will occur in the following order:

1. Donation or gift to municipal governments, including neighboring school districts, and nonprofit organizations

2. Donation or gift to District personnel and community members

3. Scrapping or recycling of any remaining items

Items will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to community members at Reid Elementary School, 201 Oberlin Road, Middletown, on Friday, June 5, from 2 – 5 p.m.

Participants are responsible for loading and transporting any items they select. Items may only be taken during this time period.

To maintain disposal records, anyone taking an item(s) will need to make a list of what they are taking and have it signed by an authorized individual. The Board action allows for items to be removed by donation or gift.
