Camp Reid-A-LotThe students at Reid worked on a unique reading challenge during the month of March. For every book they read at home or school, they could add a body segment to a caterpillar that was “crawling” its way around the school. The caterpillar was also used to solve math problems. To add to the caterpillar theme, each classroom was given real caterpillars to watch as they developed into butterflies.

The reading challenge culminated on March 30 with Camp Reid-A-Lot which was a fun-filled day of visiting learning stations around the school, including special guests who read stories around the “campfire” and a Recycled Art Show. Families were even invited to join the fun by attending the final evening event to see the progress of the reading caterpillar, observe the butterflies, and to participate in the learning activities with their students. Everyone had a blast at Camp Reid-A-Lot!

THE RECYCLED ART SHOW
by The Green Group

Green Group’s art show means so much to the students involved. It was an idea made up by siblings of one of our representatives. Our original mission was to work on our school’s recycling. The art show just proves that we are not alone in wanting to recycle. The art show lets you unleash your creativity while reusing materials such as bottle caps, cardboard, wrappers, and anything else you would throw in the recycling bin. We have more than 70 art projects submitted and they are all unique. We would like to give credit and thank everyone who participated in the art show and Green Group members for supporting us in this project.
