Bus Safety Week
by Tina Shope, Transportation Coordinator

This is school bus safety week
And each day we are going to share
Some rules and things that you should do
To ride the school bus with great care

Please arrive at your bus stop
Five minutes early, and don’t be late
So you can load the school bus quickly
And the driver won’t have to wait

When waiting at the bus stop
Stay five feet back from the curb
Don’t cross until the bus is there
Your safety is our biggest concern

When you see the bus is coming
Please wait for it to stop
You will see the red lights flashing
And the door will open up

Always use the handrail
To get on and off the bus
Never jump or run or fool around
Walking slowly is a must

Once on the bus, don’t push or shove
Please sit down in your seat
Keep the aisle clear of book bags
Musical instruments and your feet
No eating food or chewing gum
Or drinking while you ride
Keeping our busses clean and neat
Shows our Raider Pride

Please use you quiet voices
So the bus driver can hear
This rule is very important
To keep you safe all year

There is a 10 foot danger zone
You don’t want to be in there
The driver may not see you
So be cautious and beware

There are cameras on the school bus
To watch what happens every day
Your principal can watch them
If you misbehave in any way

When we ride the school bus
We follow all the rules
We listen to the driver
So we arrive safely at our school

It really is quite simple
So I’ll just very simply say
Be respectful and responsible
Be safe and have a great day

Remember, riding the school bus to and from school is a privilege. Students must follow the rules when riding the school bus or they may be excluded from riding the bus. These rules are to ensure safe bus transportation for students and the driver.

We want to thank all of our First Student Bus and Van drivers for the wonderful job they do each and every day. We wish you all safe and happy travels on the school busses of Middletown Area School District! Remember…..always be safe when you ride, show us your true Raider Pride!
