Bus Evacuation Drills

Bus Evacuation Drills
Posted on 08/28/2019

The Middletown Area School District will be conducting its semi-annual bus evacuation drills on Thursday, August 29, 2019 for all students riding full-sized regular buses, specialized buses and vans. As a result of the District’s tiered bus structure, buses may run up to 15 minutes late at bus stops in the morning due to these state-mandated bus evacuation drills that must be completed during the first week of school.

Students will be instructed in emergency procedures and how to properly evacuate the bus in the case of an accident. Students will participate in an actual evacuation from the front of the bus and may be asked to assist other students. Students who are transported in wheel chairs will disembark the vehicle prior to the drill.

The District recommends that all students wear appropriate clothing. The following articles of clothing should be avoided – dress clothes, skirts and dresses, high-heeled shoes and open-toe shoes.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Transportation Department at 717-948-3327, ext. 3010.
