Middletown Area Middle School (MAMS) sixth graders recently had the opportunity to run their own community as part of Junior Achievement of South Central Pennsylvania’s (JA) BizTown. BizTown is part of MAMS' grade-level career-based education. It combines in-class lessons, such as citizen rights and responsibilities, money management, and understanding of the free enterprise system, with a day-long visit to a simulated town.
As part of the BizTown experience, students worked as bank tellers, managed public works, ran advertising agencies, and even elected a town mayor.
We are appreciative of the District’s partnership with JA, as we fulfill the vision to have all students graduate equipped with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
