In August Mrs. Heidi Ebersole, a first grade teacher at Reid Elementary, was named Middletown Area School District’s 2024 Teacher of the Year. The award is part of a program through Shippensburg University and recently, Mrs. Ebersole was recognized at luncheon at the university. Joining Mrs. Ebersole at the event were Dr. Chelton Hunter, MASD superintendent, Dr. Alexis Wertz, MASD assistant to the superintendent, and Dr. Amy Rehmeyer, Reid Elementary principal (pictured right). Mrs. Ebersole was presented a certificate by Dr. Nicole Hill, dean of Shippensburg University's College of Education and Human Services.
Mrs. Ebersole was nominated and selected by her peers for the honor and the 2024-2025 school year marks her 29th year of teaching first grade at Middletown. She has been at Reid Elementary since 2019, and prior to that, taught at Kunkel Elementary.
Mrs. Ebersole always displays a positive attitude and is committed to seeing all her students succeed. Her classroom is a creative and welcoming student-centered, hands-on learning environment and she exemplifies Raider Pride in sharing her knowledge and expertise with her peers. She is imparting her wisdom of teaching to the next generation of educators by participating as a cooperative teacher.
Her leadership roles at MASD include serving as a District First Grade Level Chairperson and member of the Technology and ELA Curriculum Committees.
Mrs. Ebersole was recognized at MASD’s staff opening day event and the September 17 school board meeting.
