Superintendent's 2020-21 Evaluation

According to Section 1073.1 of the Pennsylvania School Code, the board of school directors shall conduct a formal written performance assessment of the district superintendent annually based on the mutually agreed upon objective performance standards. The standards shall be posted on the school district's publicly accessible Internet website. Upon completion of the annual performance assessment, the board of school directors shall post on the school district's publicly accessible Internet website the date of the assessment and whether or not the district superintendent has met the agreed upon objective performance standards.

The Middletown Area School District Board of School Directors conducted the annual performance assessment of Dr. Lori Suski, Superintendent of Schools, in June 2021. The assessment was presented to Dr. Suski on June 29, 2021. The School Board determined that Dr. Suski has met all of the Objective Performance Standards for the 2020-2021 school year:


Student Growth & Performance
By October 31, 2020, the Superintendent will develop a short- and long-term written plan to improve student achievement as measured by multiple indicators that comprise the Future Ready PA Index (State Assessment Measures, On-Track Measures, and College & Career Measures). The plan will include a description of recommended strategies and interventions, resources necessary for their implementation, monitoring schedule and implementation benchmarks and projected performance targets for each of the five schools for the 2020-21 school year (short-term) and 2021-22 school year (long-term). 

Organizational Leadership
During the 2020-21 school year, the Superintendent will provide instructional leadership to building principals and ongoing oversight of the performance of each district school holding each administrator accountable for the improvement of Future Ready PA Index ratings as measured by a minimum attainment of annual interim targets as defined by the PA Department of Education.

District Operations & Financial Management
The Superintendent will oversee the preparation and presentation of a balanced budget to the School Board for approval by June 30 each school year with the lowest possible tax increase within the constraints of the given economic factors.

Communications/Community Relations
The Superintendent will develop and communicate a COVID-19 re-entry plan for MASD that takes into account feedback from all stakeholder groups and communicates updates to the plan to parents, employees and community as needed.
The Superintendent will facilitate the newly formed Diversity, Equity & Inclusion taskforce for the District and develop a long-term plan for the achievement of the group’s vision and goals by the end of the 2020-21 school year.

Human Resources Management
The Superintendent will establish a written plan, in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources, to attract, recruit, interview and hire minority candidates for employment as teachers, administrators, and coaches.

Professionalism
The Superintendent will continue to advance her professional knowledge and skills through participation in various executive leadership opportunities (conferences, webinars, reading of professional literature, and field interactions) and will provide quarterly reports to the School Board on how this information is being utilized to positively impact the professional growth of the MASD administrative team.
