Meet the Principal

Tom Shaffer

I have been a resident of Middletown Area School District since moving here in 1980.

I am a graduate of Middletown Area High School.  I received my BS in Education from Millersville.  My teaching career began in Lower Dauphin School District, where I served for half a year in 5th grade.  I moved districts the following year to Central Dauphin School District where I spent 13 years in the classroom.  The majority of these years were split between 4th and 6th grade.  While in Central Dauphin, I completed a Masters Degree from Penn State Harrisburg.   Later, I received my principal’s certification from Penn State Harrisburg .  I finished my career at Central Dauphin as an elementary building Principal.  I moved to the Middletown Area School District in the 2007-2008 school year.

I am married and have three children all who attend MASD.  I enjoy spending time with all of them.  Any outside activity is a favorite of mine; camping, running, walking, bike riding, street hockey, basketball, kickball and anything else we can find to do outside.

I am thrilled to be a part of the Middletown Area School District and proud to have my family in attendance in our schools.  Each year I look forward to working with our students and helping them to develop lifelong skills, serving our district and building relationships within the community.
