WMSS 40th Anniversary

WMSS Ann BANN

“WMSS is where I got my start and learned to love being on the radio,” tweeted Sweeny Murti. As a Middletown resident, Murti attended Kunkel Elementary School, MAMS and was a member of the MAHS Class of 1988. During his four years at MAHS, Murti was the student sports director of WMSS 91.1 radio station. He went on to major in Communications at Penn State University where he was a broadcast announcer for PSU athletics and produced football post-game shows. His skill and expertise drove him north to NYC where he is currently the voice of the New York Yankees on WFAN radio.

On Saturday, October 13, 2018 during Homecoming weekend, WMSS celebrated their 40-year anniversary. Former and current participants gathered to share memories of their experiences behind the mic or controlling the board. Sweeny Murti wasn’t able to attend the event but he did take the time to share his congratulations to the radio station on Twitter.
