The Raider wrestlers cleaned up the mats with stellar performances during the 2017-2018 season. The seven wrestlers pictured below qualified for the District competition held at The Giant Center in Hershey, PA on February 23-24, 2018. Brady, Berstler, Martin, Fegley and Malay placed high enough in their weight class to advance to the Regional competition. Regional hopeful, Joey Spear, a MAHS sophomore, was injured during his match when his opponent completed an illegal move by forcefully throwing him to the mat. The opponent was disqualified but, unfortunately, Joey’s injury prohibited him from continuing in the competition which dashed his dreams of joining his teammates at Regionals. Hopefully, Joey’s junior and senior years will be injury-free.

At the Regional competition, held at Wilson High School on March 2-3, 2018, Luke Fegley and Ryan Berstler stepped onto the mats with determination and placed in the top six of their weight class which clinched them a spot at States! Fegley and Berstler headed back to The Giant Center on March 8-10, each of them representing 1 of the top 20 wrestlers in the state for their weight class. Berstler was eliminated after two matches which placed him among the #16-20 wrestlers in the state. Fegley won his first match before losing his next two matches which placed him among wrestlers #13-16 in the state.

Three Raiders were also selected as Mid Penn All Stars: Nathan Brady, Zachary Malay and Devin Martin.

The Raider wrestlers are coached by Dan Riggs, Earl Bright IV and Tony Colemire.
